April 28th is Bus Driver Appreciation Day!
Our bus drivers play a vital role in keeping our students safe and getting them to and from school every day. Take a moment to thank a bus driver for their dedication, patience, and hard work.

📢 Early Dismissal Announcement 📢
Herrin Elementary School will have a 2:00 PM dismissal on Monday, April 27th.
Please plan accordingly for student pick-up and transportation needs. Be sure to contact your child’s daycare as well as the school office if there are any transportation changes.

That means we are going to RIDE out the week with Chance Karnes “CK” Day! 🤠
Students and staff are encouraged to wear their CK apparel or their best cowboy/cowgirl attire for a $1 donation.
All donations will go to the Chance Karnes Memorial Scholarship. Thank you for helping us support this special cause while we have a little fun to end the year!

This day is a great reminder for students and families to appreciate nature and the world around us. Bird Day celebrates the importance of protecting birds and their habitats, while Arbor Day encourages us to plant and care for trees.
Here are a few simple ways to celebrate:
• Plant a tree or a flower
• Put out a bird feeder
• Take a nature walk
• Pick up litter around your neighborhood
• Learn about different types of birds and trees in our area

On Earth Day, we are reminded to take care of our planet. Students can help by picking up trash, recycling, turning off lights when leaving a room, and taking care of our school and community.
We also want to give a big THANK YOU to our amazing school secretaries who keep our school running smoothly every single day. From answering phones and helping students to supporting staff and families, they do so much behind the scenes, and we are very grateful for all they do for HES!

What a fantastic turnout for our ALOP Family Engagement Bingo Night on Friday, April 17!
Our community came together for an evening filled with laughter, friendly competition, and - most importantly - meaningful connection. The Alternative Learning Opportunities Program (ALOP) is built on the foundation of supporting our students and their families, and events like these remind us why that partnership is so vital.
🌟 Highlights from the Night:
