TRUANCY MINUTE: A Message from ROE #21
As a part of the ROE #21 Partners Against Chronic Truancy initiative, we are committed to working together to address and reduce truancy within our community. We understand that regular school attendance is one of the most important factors in a student's academic success, personal development, and future opportunities. Truancy can have serious long-term effects on a student's educational journey, and we believe that by collaborating with families, schools, and community organizations, we can create a supportive environment that encourages consistent attendance.
To Parents: Your involvement is essential in helping your child succeed in school. By ensuring that your child attends school regularly, you are setting the foundation for their future success. If your child is struggling with attending school, whether due to academic challenges, emotional issues, or other factors, please reach out for support. We are here to help you navigate these challenges and connect you with resources that can make a difference.
To Students: Every day of school is an opportunity for learning, growth, and development. Missing school can create gaps in your education and make it harder to catch up. If you're facing any difficultiesโwhether itโs with schoolwork, friends, or anything elseโdonโt hesitate to reach out to a teacher, counselor, or trusted adult. Together, we can find solutions to help you stay on track.
Together, We Can Make a Difference! We believe that by working togetherโparents, students, schools, and community partnersโwe can overcome the barriers that prevent students from attending school regularly. Your education is your future and attending school every day is one of the best steps you can take to ensure that future is bright.
If you need any help or have questions, please donโt hesitate to reach out to us. Weโre here to support you.

๐โจ **Letโs finish the year strong!** โจ๐
As we head into the holiday season, it's easy to let routines slipโbut staying consistent with **regular and punctual attendance** at school, both **before and after holiday breaks**, is more important than ever! Hereโs why:
โ
**Build Momentum**: Showing up ready to learn keeps your skills sharp and ensures you donโt miss critical lessons or assignments.
โ
**Stay Connected**: Being present helps you maintain friendships, teamwork, and that strong school community vibe.
โ
**Set the Tone**: Consistency shows commitment to your education and builds great habits for life.
โ
**Catch the Review**: Right before and after breaks, teachers often recap or introduce key conceptsโdonโt miss out!
๐ **Parents and caregivers**, encourage your students to stay on track. Every day counts when it comes to their success!
Letโs make this holiday season one to remember by keeping education and attendance a top priority. ๐๐ #AttendanceMatters #StayCommitted #FinishStrong

๐จ Important Reminder for Parents of Students Being Picked Up By Daycare๐จ
For any and all transportation changes, please notify both the school and the daycare as soon as possible! ๐๐ฌ
๐ Why is this important?
Failing to report transportation changes can lead to confusion, delays, and may result in a financial charge.
Help us ensure your childโs safety and a smooth process for everyone! Thank you for your cooperation. ๐

๐ Arrive on Time, Stay the Whole Time! โฐ
Did you know that being tardy or leaving school early can seriously affect your academic success? Hereโs why:
โ
School starts promptly at 8:10 AM. Students enter classrooms at 8:00 AM to get settled and ready to learn. Arriving late disrupts the flow, causing missed instruction time and leaving students scrambling to catch up.
โ
Dismissal is at 2:40 PM. Leaving early means missing the end-of-day lessons, important announcements, and sometimes crucial one-on-one support from teachers.
When students miss even a small portion of the school day, it can:
๐ Lead to learning gaps
๐ Lower performance on tests and assignments
๐ Make it harder to stay organized and on top of classwork
๐ Help set yourself or your child up for success by ensuring they arrive on time and stay the entire day. Every minute counts! Let's make the most of our learning opportunities. ๐ซโจ

๐ธ School Picture ReTakeDay for HES will be Thursday, November 21st!! ๐ธ If you have any questions, please email brandi.karnes@herrinschools.org. **Also, please note that once a retake has been taken, the original photo is no longer available!!

Thursday, November 21st is picture re-take day. Please let your child's teacher know by Wednesday if you would like your child to take a picture re-take. Once they get a retake, the original photo will no longer be available so we'd really like confirmation before allowing students to get a retake.
Additionally, any student who was not enrolled at HES on August 29th and did not have a picture taken, will also get their picture taken on Thursday, November 21st!!

The HHS Book and Cinema Club is hosting its second annual Christmas event at the high school. They would love to have you join them!!
